Who was Julian T. Naumenko?

Julian T. Naumenko, of Blessed Memory, was a brilliant, vibrant and spirited 19-year-old young man.  Gifted with many talents, not the least of which were a superb intellect, brilliant sense of humor and stellar skills as a soccer goalie. Julian's future was one of boundless probabilities.

What is more, Julian had a deep love and commitment to his Faith, to his family, friends and teammates and to his heritage as an American of Ukrainian descent. He cherished his ancestral homeland and her cultural and sports histories and spirits.  Exceptionally kind and generous, Julian was a natural leader.

Julian, throughout his many continuous seasons in youth soccer, was exceedingly proud to wear the blue-and-yellow and red-and-black uniforms of the legendary Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals soccer club, known in the Ukrainian community as "Tryzub".

Julian then matriculated directly to varsity soccer at Rutgers University. Even as he was laying the foundation for a promising career as a health care provider and soccer goalie, Julian came to rest in the Arms of the Lord when a tragic accident took his life. His loving family, friends and past and present coaches and teammates, indeed the entire community, were devastated. The “Julian Naumenko Tryzub Soccer Scholarship Fund” is designed to honor Julian and to keep Eternal the Memory of a fine young man. May he find Rest and Peace in the Arms of the Lord.
